Another Update!

I've never maintained my blog this well, lol. Today I added a column to the right called "Shared Stories." This is made up of RSS stories that I've shared through Google Reader. Every morning I wake up, stumble to the toilet and then outside with Link. While he runs around, I check/update Twitter and then read over all my stories in Reader. That's a long way of saying that this will be something I update daily. :)
I've done it this way instead of blogging the items directly, because it's much easier and honestly most people don't want to sift through RSS items to get to the awesome blog entries with which I grace the world...haha.

Modern

I just wanted to take a quick second here during my lunch break to say that over the past few days, I've brought my blog into 2009 in a ton of ways. Not like a lot of people show up here, but it's still fun working on HTML/CSS/JS. The fun thing to realize when looking at web pages is even the simplest looking ones (maybe like this one?) are often running a lot under the hood.
If you have Firefox, go to View->Page Style->No Style. If you know anything about HTML, you'll see that the entire page is designed through CSS. Little things like what I'm listening to in each post went from 3-4 lines of code down to half a line of code. Now on all pages but the main page, there are little breadcrumb buttons to help navigate in the upper left hand corner via JavaScript I wrote (why doesn't Blogger provide this?).
On the right side of every page is a Flash version of my 360 gamercard, a dynamic Twitter box that updates when I do, and a labels box. Like I said, it doesn't seem like a lot is going on, but if you look at the code behind everything, it's pretty impressive for a little Blogger site that I update every other month or less, haha.

Just a quick note for anyone who actually comes here. I've recently changed hosts for this website (and others) and forgot to grab a few files (duh). So I'll be rebuilding the DVD and Games databases as well as the photo gallery here in the next week or two. Lemme know what you think of the site's speed. I have 30 days to cancel and find something else!

Through tweets. I'll still post here occasionally, but as you can no doubt tell, I'm not very good at maintaining a traditional blog. Instead my updates are now available on Twitter. If you would like a really nice little program to follow tweets with, download Twhirl.

Spinning my wheels

I'm nearly done working on this web design for my blog. At some point, most people realize that putting 10 hours into the graphic design of a page that'll be seen by you and your friends is a bit much. Not me. I do have to admit, though, that my goal is to include enough interesting information on this site of mine to where it's interesting to people I don't even know. That's going to require me stepping it up and utilizing writing skills that I haven't touched since 9th grade English class. Maybe if I put enough thought and finesse into my writing here, it'll benefit me in college. Stranger things have happened, I'm sure.
As far as the links at the top, eventually I will convert those over to match this page, but damn I'm tired. Give me a chance to rest, please!

Busy work
I'm severely tempted to gut this whole page and build my own template from the ground up, just to give myself something to do. I've seen a few people have done this with Blogger, even though the majority of these pages are by people just getting into the bad habit of posting painfully useless thoughts on the internet. My thoughts, however, are truly astounding.
